Decks & Outdoor

Deck Building & Outdoor Living

Out here, a good outdoor space is worth most of the year. We build decks, covered patios, and pergolas with materials chosen for our rain — so your backyard becomes the best room in the house.

In the Northwest, the right outdoor space gives you back most of the year - a spot for summer dinners, fall evenings by the fire, and a dry place to sit while the rain does its thing. Cedar Ridge designs and builds custom decks, patios, pergolas, and outdoor living areas across Seattle's Eastside.

We build with materials chosen for our climate. Composite decking (Trex, TimberTech) shrugs off moisture and needs almost no upkeep. Western red cedar weathers into something beautiful and brings a warmth you can't fake. We'll help you pick what fits your budget, your style, and how much weekend maintenance you actually want to do.

And we build from the ground up the right way - proper footings, solid framing, code-compliant railings and stairs. The structure you don't see is what keeps your family safe on the part you do. Most decks over 30 inches need a permit, and we handle that whole process for you.

From a simple platform deck to a multi-level outdoor room with built-in seating, lighting, and a pergola overhead, we build backyards you'll never want to come inside from.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Composite costs more upfront but requires almost zero maintenance and lasts 25-50 years. Cedar costs less initially but needs staining every 2-3 years. In the wet Pacific Northwest, composite is usually the better long-term investment.

In most Eastside cities, yes - especially if the deck is over 30 inches above grade, attached to the house, or covers a large area. We handle all permitting so you don't have to worry about it.

A standard deck (200-400 sq ft) takes about 1-2 weeks from start to finish. Larger projects with pergolas, multiple levels, or complex features may take 3-4 weeks. Weather can impact the timeline during rainy months.

Absolutely. Covered structures are popular here for obvious reasons. We build attached patio covers, freestanding pergolas with optional rain panels, and fully roofed outdoor living areas.
